You are invited to attend a community planting day on Wednesday 24 April 8:00am-11am & 12pm-3pm.
A selection of native plant species from Wollongong Botanic Gardens Nursery will be on hand for planting in areas prepared by Council’s bush regeneration contractors.
Parents and their children are encouraged to participate in this planting day during the school holidays.
Attendees should bring a hat and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
A BBQ lunch will be provided. Meet at the Artis Street Bridge, the Northern end of Artis Street, Bulli at 8am or at the Farrell Rd Bridge, Farrell Rd, Bulli at 12pm.
Feel free to drop in at any time, stay for the day or just plant a tree.
A three year grant totalling $45,000 was received from the NSW Environmental Trust Restoration and Rehabilitation Program in 2011. The grant allows for restoration of native vegetation at three Wollongong Council sites including Whartons Creek at Bulli. Council is also contributing $12,500 per year to the project.
The restoration work aims to create a native corridor of vegetation, and restore the biodiversity in the area. This will be achieved through weed control and revegetation.
