Community Seed Collection Day

seed collecting

Join Landcare Illawarra to collect seed!

Landcare Illawarra carries out regular seed collection days where any interested community member can come out in the field and learn more about the project and contribute to collecting seeds from native species to be used in future planting projects as part of the Illawarra Woodland and Rainforest Project.

We collect seed from a variety of sites across the region. Seed collections are documented and sent off to our partner nurseries where it is then propagated. The tubestock is then used in local planting projects.

What you need to know:

Seed collection days usually run for a couple of hours depending on the size of the site and how much distance we need to cover to collect what we are after on the day.

All participants need to bring plenty of water, lunch and snacks for the day.

Toilet facilities are not always available on-site depending on where we are.

Some sites can be steep and vary in difficulty, moderate fitness is required.

Please wear sturdy closed in shoes, long pants, long sleeves, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

When: Monday September 30, 10am

Where: Kiama, details provided on registration
