Connecting at the inaugural Illawarra Nature Festival

Landcare Illawarra vollies had such an amazing day out today at the inaugural Illawarra Nature Festival!

Hosted by the Saving Our Species team, and enabled by dozens of local individuals, groups and institutions, it was an incredible chance to connect, learn and grow together. We are so lucky to be part of a dynamic and caring community, and increasingly connected to First Nations peoples who lead the way in our efforts to care for Country.

Thanks to everyone for the great connections today.

Special thanks to Emma Rooksby, Carl Glaister, Brendan Hammond, Michael Swire, Joe Carter, Terry Harkness, Patsy Nagle and Leon Fuller for being part of our stall today. We loved seeing you all talking and connecting with local nature-lovers!!!

Emma and Carl also gave a great presentation on the work of Landcare Illawarra in the talk series. If you missed it, here is catch-up, with some snippets from all the presentations. Check out the details of the Southern Hairy Crayfish, found in east-flowing Illawarra creeks from Scarborough in the north to Cambewarra in the south, and SOS Beth Mott’s presentation on Illawarra Lowlands Grassy Woodland, as well as Emma and Carl (14:50) Big thanks to Tony Markham for the film.

We look forward to working with the Saving our Species team on next year’s Illawarra Nature Festival. It can only be bigger and better.
