History
Jamberoo Valley Landcare was formed in 2022 by local volunteers passionate about the restoration of native flora and fauna habitat in the Jamberoo Valley.  We aim to work collaboratively with local farmers and other stakeholders to look after our local environment. The first event to establish a local Landcare group was held at Burra Falls – Jamberoo Mountain Road, hosted by Tim Burton-Taylor and family.

Work plan
The group is supporting the Hyams Creek Revival Project part of the Minnamurra River Coastal Zone Management. Initial weed control was carried out by Kiama Municipal Council and the first working bee was the official launch of Jamberoo Valley Landcare held on Hyams Creek across from Kevin Walsh Oval in Jamberoo. With some bush regeneration the initial work can dramatically change the landscape as is the case in Jamberoo.  Important work, less thought about, is the ongoing maintenance of the area. Without continued funding this work is not a priority. This is where Landcare Groups take up the challenge to improve and conserve our local native environment.  The one thing our Landcare volunteers have agreed upon during initial working bees is their love of Jamberoo and the surrounding valley. Jamberoo is lucky to have other local volunteer groups full of passionate people working for the community.

Favourite plant and why
Lomandra for the way they hold and stabilise the riparian zone.
