Location: Kiama
Kaleula Headland Landcare is a group of local volunteers caring for a small patch of remnant Littoral Rainforest on a Kiama headland.

Location
South end of Kendalls Beach in Kiama township.
History
The current group formed in 2022. There had been previous Landcare groups working in the area over 15 years ago. Most group members live in the immediate surrounding streets. We participated in the National Tree Day planting with Kiama High School for the first time this year, on a flat area at the top of the site.
Work plan
We aim to encourage natural regeneration by reducing invasive weeds around the edge of the remnant Littoral Rainforest, and planting of rainforest and coastal species.
Worst weed!
Lantana covers over 60% of the site but we are slowly pushing back in limited areas we can easily maintain. It remains an important haven for small birds. Coastal Morning Glory smothering the rainforest trees is everywhere. Asparagus Fern is an increasing problem in some pockets.
Favorite plant and why
We love the Coastal Wattle. It is an excellent pioneer plant, it grows quickly, and we can use them along the water edge to slowly replace the Lantana.
Where to find the group
We meet at the south end of Kendalls Beach at the picnic table in the Reserve. 8am in summer and 9am in winter, on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
