Location: Kiama
Local residents decided to restore the area and install signage that shows the connection of local indigenous people to the local landforms.

Location
Working at the Little Blowhole Reserve, off Tingira Cresent in Kiama township.
History
The Landcare group formed as a response to the condition of the gully where the creek line runs through in 2005. Local residents decided to restore the area and install signage that shows the connection of local indigenous people to the local landforms.
Work plan
The group’s primary focus on-ground has been to return the native vegetation to the site beginning with the removal/treatment of exotic pasture grasses and invasive annuals. Salt attacks plus strong wind from the ocean play a big part in the survival or not of the plantings.
Worst weed!
Most recently it is the Arum Lilies growing from the natural spring flowing down to the ocean. From the beginning Kikuyu was and still is a problem weed as the site was a dairy farm paddock, seeded for feed. Some of our volunteers would say that Turkey Rhubarb and others would say Asparagus fern are the worst weeds.
Favourite plant and why
Favourite plants would include Dianella, which provides purple flowers and then berries (good bush tucker) which the birds enjoy. Also, Coastal Pigface and Warrigal Greens which are a good ground cover but still need to be managed. Bleeding Heart, Wattles and Bottlebrushes provide some good colour, as well as attracting birds.
Where to find the group
We meet at Little Blowhole Reserve in Kiama.
