Join us for a special tour (and treasure hunt) at Crooked River Estate, the home of Crooked River Winery.
The 40-hectare site is one of the region’s iconic wineries, is a popular wedding venue and home to remnant endangered Illawarra Lowland Subtropical Rainforest. Sustainability and Operations Manager, Joel Walsh, is leading a program of regeneration and planting to build resilience on site, reduce inundation from flooding and encourage natural predators of the vineyard pests and pathogens.
In a special walkshop led by Joel and Emma Rooksby, Chair of Landcare Illawarra, we’ll spend a morning touring the site learning about the important environmental restoration work underway and checking out the subtropical rainforest. We will also be on the search for the elusive and endangered Daphnandra johnsonii Illawarra Socketwood. We have a special book prize for the first person to find one!
We’ll finish the day with a BYO picnic lunch. Sweet treats provided.
The morning will include walking up and down hills and grassy slopes and standing. Please wear outdoor clothes, a hat, and walking shoes, and bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and something to eat.
